Our History

Reaping Nature Educational Outreach Foundation, Inc., was founded in October 2009 by Denise Carleton and Mary Nix, after meeting with school personnel in a Title I school.  The administrator present at the meeting felt that our programs would demonstrate to students that they could be a part of something "bigger than themselves"; however, the school did not have the financial ability, nor did their families, to bring our programs to their school and students.

As a way to meet the needs of this school and other schools, as well as the general public, Reaping Nature Educational Outreach Foundation was created.

What is a Title I school?

Title I schools have large concentrations of low-income students. Low-income students are determined by the number of students enrolled in the free and reduced lunch program.

Children from low-income areas are often the ones most vulnerable for "at-risk" behavior. They're also the ones in schools with the fewest resources for educational enrichment programs.  Over half of all public schools are Title I.
